Welcome to Room 3!

Dear First Graders and Families,
I look forward to meeting and learning about your families this school year! We will have a great time this year learning and creating in Room 3.

I've attached the information from the student letter I sent home for your reference.  Please note the first grade recess/lunch time is slightly later this year from 12:45-1:20.   Therefore we will be having snack in the morning (around 10:45.)  Please plan accordingly when making snack choices.

On the first day of school, we will meet our first grade friends in the cafeteria of the school.  Once everyone has arrived, we will walk together down to our classroom to get our day started.  During the first week, we will spend time getting to know our classroom, getting to know our school and getting to know each other.  I love to learn about my first graders and their families.  I hope you'll like learning about my family and me!

**If you have not sent me your email address, please do!  I will be updating this blog each school week for information about what we're doing.  cconway@westfordk12.us

Dear Families,

I hope you had a wonderful and fun summer.  I have spent my summer enjoying the sunny weather and spending time with my daughter, Arya and my husband, Mr. Conway.

I have also been busy setting up our classroom. I am so excited to meet you and get to know you in the next couple of weeks!  I know you probably have a lot of questions about first grade, and I am ready to answer those questions and make our year a great one!  As you are preparing for first grade, here are some important things you should know…

This year our class will be using a B.E.E Binder for home/school communication. The B.E.E. Binder is a three-ring notebook students will bring to and from school each day. It will help develop organizational skills and will help to eliminate lost notes, newsletters, etc. Please establish a routine at home to share the information in the binder each day.  I would appreciate if each student would provide the following items for their B.E.E. Binder:

·    1” Binder (any color) Please be sure that the binder has a clear plastic sleeve on the front cover.
·    1 three hole punched pocket folder (any color or design).
·    1 clear zippered pencil pouch (to store any money they will need).
Please bring all materials for the B.E.E. Binder on the first day of school so I can fill it with important information.  If you would like to help more, we are always looking for classroom donations of paper towels, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, and tissues.

Children will need to bring a small nutritious snack to school each day.  Daily snacks should include one small snack and a drink.  Milk can be purchased by adding money onto your child’s school lunch account.  It is extremely important that all snacks are NUT FREE and  as we have students in our suite with severe allergies. Please check labels on all snacks and drinks to be sure they are NUT free.  Students may bring lunches containing nuts as we have a reserved table for students with food allergies.

All necessary school forms (dismissal, health form, etc) will be sent home the first day of school.  Please be sure to send them back at your earliest convenience.  This will help ensure your child’s safety on those first few days as well as throughout the year.   Please either send a note or send an email letting me know your child's dismissal schedule before the first day of school.

A newsletter will be coming home the first day of school highlighting other important first grade information.  You can also find out more information about our classroom on my blog by visiting, www.conway3.blogspot.com.  I will be in contact throughout the school year through newsletters, phone calls, conferences and e-mail cconway@westfordk12.us.  I would appreciate for parents to email me with your email address. This seems to be the easiest form of communication we have throughout the year. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.  I look forward to getting to know your families this school year!
