Update March 20th

Hello Students & Families!

I've attached another video to share with your children.  In this video I share what we've been up to at our house.

Yesterday, we had Fairy Tale day. We watched a few YouTube videos to learn about the elements of a Fairy Tale.  Here are the videos we watched:

We also watched a Fairy Tale.  We chose to watch the movie "Into The Woods" and we talked throughout about what made it a Fairy Tale.

Throughout the day, Arya picked books from our bookshelf for us to read together.  All of the books we read had to be Fairy Tales.

We also did the Fairy Floss Yoga on Cosmic Kids Yoga together.

Finally, we began writing our own Fairy Tale last night before bed.

We really had fun with our Fairy Tale Day.  If you would like to do some or all of these ideas, please do!  Have your parent send me a picture or video of you!

Update March 17th

Good Morning! You will receive more information from the district later this week/early next week about optional learning experiences students can do while at home for this extended time.

This morning, Arya, Kit and I made a video about what we've been up to and we read the book "Pigeon Needs a Bath" by Mo Willems.  Check it out!

We are going to try out this Mo Willems Lunch Doodle that was posted yesterday.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmzjCPQv3y8
You could try it out too!  Feel free to send pictures of what you're doing while at home to my email, cconway@westfordk12.us

*On Friday, March 13th, our 4th Grade Book Buddies from Crisafulli will come to Robinson to read with us.

*In Writing, we will begin using an editing checklist to edit our Weekend News.  Students will focus on adding punctuation to the end of sentences.

*In Math, our focus is on fact families.  We will use dominoes and fact triangles to find the two addition facts and two subtraction facts that are in the family.  For example:
5, 3, 8
5+3=8
3+5=8
8-3=5
8-5=3

*In Social Studies, we are focusing on the different traditions that our families have for special days.  It would be helpful if you could have a conversation with your child about the traditions you have for:
*Birthdays
*Snow Days
*New Year
*Weekends

We will also begin to learn about symbols that we have for America. The symbol we will learn about this week is the Statue of Liberty.

*I am looking for donations of crayons.  I'd like to refresh our crayon boxes.  I have the standard 8 crayons colors.  I would love to restock with fun colors.  Boxes of 64 would be great!  Thanks.

Looking Ahead:

Monday, March 23rd- No School 2-8pm Parent/Teacher Conferences

Tuesday, March 24th- 2 Hour Delay 8:15-10:30 Parent/Teacher Conferences
