Update February 28th

Hello!  Next week is a busy week as we celebrate Read Across America week.  A flier went home earlier this week with details on the week.  Here is the quick review of our Spirit activities.

Monday- Wear Red & White, Stripes or any Dr. Seuss attire.

Tuesday- No School, Green Eggs and Ham at home (lucky you!)

Wednesday- Wear wacky clothes, backwards clothes, just about anything goes!

Thursday- Wear clothes that have words.

Friday- Dress up as you who/what you want to be OR wear something with your favorite college/career.

This week, we will begin a new unit in Math.  Our focus will be on number families.  For example if I have the number 2, 3 and 5, I can make 

2+3=5

3+2=5

5-2=3

 5-3=2

We will also begin a new unit in Social Studies, called History: Unity and Diversity in the United States.  We will learn about what makes us the same, different and all part of this country.  We will begin the week by reading the book Families, Families, Families by Suzanne Lang.

We will complete our Opinion Writing unit by writing an opinion letter to make a change at home or school.  

Update February 7th

*On Monday, we will celebrate the 100th day of school.  We will enjoy fun, 100th day activities in Daily 5, Math and Writing.

*On Friday, we'll celebrate Valentine's Day with a party in the afternoon. Here is the signup genius to sign up to be a volunteer or to donate food.  Please note, you need to have an approved CORI in order to volunteer:  Valentine's Sign Up
 I sent home a class list today. Please remember to send Valentine's into school by Friday (no candy included.)

*On Friday, our 4th grade Book Buddies will come to Robinson to read with us!

*In Math, our focus will be on double facts (5+5=10, 3+3=6) We will also focus on making 10 to solve harder number sentences.

*In Science, we will focus on how sound travels.

*In Writing, we will learn how to write a letter.  Students will use a graphic organizer to write a persuasive letter.
